A Little Sunshine

So life does come with its little bits of sunshine. Once a month my work has a professional massage place come in and give ten-minute free massages to employees that sign up for them. I’ve never done it before, but Charity came and got me today and we both signed up. Man, it was great! This is probably the best I’ve ever felt at work. So relaxing and so good, even for ten minutes. I so needed it today. I’ve been stressing about a lot of different things (so glad I’m going on vacation next week) so it was good to have a breather and get my tense muscles relaxed.

Flashback

Does anybody else remember this movie? I remembered it because I started listening to an audio book which involved an FBI training academy. I haven't seen this movie in years, so I don't really remember all that well. I remember I liked it and thought it was funny. It was one of the movies we recorded on VHS and I watched a lot as a kid. (The movie came out in 1988.) I find it even funnier now as this movie would so not be PC in this day and age. (Egads! There are WOMEN in the FBI!!)

Have You Ever?

Yep, another survey thing. I don't really have time for super original material right now. But I thought I'd keep the masses happy. Bloglifted from Amanda once again.

Kicked someone in the. . . well, you know? Yep. I was five years old at the time. He had gone through the fence the “wrong way” and this simply couldn’t be tolerated. (There was an opening in a fence surrounding the field of my school. The opening had a bar through it and had footprints preserved in cement. One was walking into the field, the other out. The unlucky boy was walking on the “out” side when he should’ve been walking on the “in” side.)

Gone on a blind date? Yes, many sadly. Most of my dates consisted of friends setting me up with other friends. Or blind dates with guys I met off the Internet. (Don’t judge me.)

Made someone cry? Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on the circumstances), yes.

Opened your Christmas presents early? Not too early. Maybe a few days early or at a Christmas party or on Christmas Eve. I peeked all the time when I was younger, but now I refrain since I’ve realized that ruins the surprise.

Been online for more than 10 hours in a row? Yes, unfortunately. If you don’t count work or school, there was a time period of my life when I would on the computer for hours at a time while in the throes of depression.

Pretended to be someone you weren't online? Not really. I’ve lied about small things like my age, but I always was still me.

Eaten food that fell on the floor? Yes....I have.

Been caught cheating? I have never cheated in a relationship (and never will), but yes, I have cheated some in my day. Never on tests. But I have plagiarized several research papers (never word-for-word or from the Internet or from a peer). But I was fortunately finally caught and taught correct principles and have never cheated (or plagiarized) since that day.

Been caught speeding? Nope, I have never been pulled over. Hopefully, I never will.

Flashed someone? Besides my husband or sisters? Nope.

Gone out without underwear on? Only like once and it was a desperate situation. I’d rather wear dirty underwear than go without (if I’m leaving the house anyway).

Got into a fist fight? Only with family. ;)

Swallowed bath water? I’m not sure. Maybe when I was younger.

Peed in the pool? Seriously, who hasn’t? If you say you haven’t, you’re totally lying.

Thrown up in public? Actually in public or just in public restrooms? The last time I threw up in public was in the DMV’s bathroom moments before I took my new license picture.

Been so drunk you can't walk? Having never been drunk I have to say no. But I have been so tired, dizzy, and/or medicated that I haven’t been able to.

Broken wind and blamed someone else? Sure. Everyone does it. That’s what siblings are for.

Done something mean you regretted? Unfortunately, yes.

Played pull my finger? I’ve never really found that funny. Even when I was younger. (I’m more into “diarrhea” jokes.) Though I have done it, the pull-my-finger thing that is.

Fill-in-the-blank

I bloglifted this from Amanda. Sorry I haven't been posting more. I've actually had stuff to do at work, and since I'm on the computer all day at work I usually don't get on at home.

My ex is . . . a thing of the past. Except for the one I stayed good friends with.
Maybe I should . . . try something different.
I love . . . my husband and the beauty of the world.
I don't understand . . . why people are so mean.
I lost my . . . figure. I hope to find it again someday.
People would say that I'm . . . quirky and a fun and compassionate friend. (At least I hope they do.)
I look forward to . . . each and every second I spend with Austin.
Love is . . . the greatest thing in the world (except maybe chocolate).
Somewhere, someone is . . . being born.
I will always . . . love my family.
Forever is . . . something that is actually attainable.
I think the current President is . . . an okay guy.
I woke up this morning . . . feeling more awake than I have all week.
Life is full of . . . regrets.
My past . . . is something I’m not ashamed of.
I get annoyed when . . . people accuse me of things I didn’t do.
I wish . . . I could be a fiction editor.
My dog . . . is dead. (though he was never “my” dog.)
Tomorrow I'm going to . . . plan our trip to Vegas.
I have no tolerance for people who . . . are judgmental.
If I had a million dollars I would . . . buy your love. (Seriously? buy a house and pay off debt)
Sometimes I want to . . . be a kid again.
Home is . . . where the chocolate chip cookies are.
We are . . . God’s children.
This weekend . . . I want to have fun.
I understand . . . that things don’t usually go my way.
If I had a chance . . . I would live up to my potential.

Birthday etc.

I agree with Austin. Blog entries are always hard to start. So last weekend I continued my birthday celebration. I got to go home early on Friday since I had gained extra hours doing the workshops. I stopped at Target and bought myself 3 new shirts (yay!) and a giftcard for my friend Kim whose reception was that same night. Austin and I then went to Red Robin for dinner. Then we hurried over to The White Willow to see Kim and wish her well. We were then going to go to a movie but it was getting too late so we decided to rent movies instead. Then we stayed up watching Friends season 4 all night. Saturday was the day of the party so Austin went to class while I went and got a massage. (I used the gift certificate Austin got me for Christmas.) Then we cleaned house and I made spinach artichoke dip and apple cinnamon yellow cake. Trent & Jess arrived first later joined by Charity & James and Brett & Charlotte. We chatted while we waited for Brittnee & Matt to get there. Then we played Shout About Movies (a dvd movie trivia game). The first round we played boys vs. girls and the girls got whipped. We then changed around teams to make it more evenly matched. Heidi and Aaron and baby Will then arrived. The second round was more evenly matched, but Austin’s team won again. Heck, he probably could’ve won by himself. He’s impossible. We then had cake and ice cream. Though gifts were not required, Charity got me a disposable camera and a pretty magazine with pretty pics with a challenge to take pics of the moments in life. Trent, Charity, & Heidi (and spouses) then left. The remaining couples played Simpsons Clue (which Austin won of course). Then it was just Austin and I and Brett & Charlo. We chatted and watched clips of Triumph the Insult Dog and played with my newly obtained (via B & C) glowsticks! I love glowsticks. It was a totally great gift. (I also received a giant pixie stick and a Princess Jasmine Pez.) It was a totally fun weekend. Thank you to all my friends and family who made my birthday a fun-filled fest.

OH...And looks like 6 of you like celebrating your birthday while 1 of you doesn't and 1 did when they were younger. Someone give me a new idea for a poll, and I'll change it.

Birthdays Come But Once a Year

“I'm not gonna write you a love song/cuz you asked for it/cuz you need one, you see.” I’ve been singing this over and over lately. Thank you, Austin, for my new Sara Bareilles CD. I absolutely love it.

So I know everyone is dying to know how my birthday went. Well, it went like this: I went to work extremely tired as I couldn’t sleep the night before. (I managed to get a couple of hours of sleep after I went out onto the couch.) I then had my brain squished at work as I spent the second day in a committee review workshop. After nine hours of this I was released and I headed home. At home I received a bouquet of roses from Austin, as well as a salad from Bajio’s for dinner. I also opened my presents. Austin did the best he’s ever done at getting me presents. He got me LOST season 3 (yay!), Friends season 4 (only season 10 left to get now), the aforementioned Sara Bareilles CD, Something Big Has Been Here (a kid's book of poetry that I had and loved as a childe), a Princess Bride talking keychain, Seasons (an expansion pack for the SIMS 2 that I really wanted), and another computer game. He also surprised me by getting my guitar re-stringed. I was excited for that as I had crappy strings and it was way out of tune. It sounds so much better now. Thanks honey! I also received a Symphony bar which has already been devoured.

So after opening my presents I got cleaned up and headed over to my parent’s house where I was presented with the ugliest-looking, best-tasting mint Texas sheet cake ever. I was then regaled with offkey boisterous singing as I blew out my candles. Then came the spumoni. Oh, yes. Spumoni. The best.icecream.ever. Then I opened some presents. Mom & Dad got me a cute necklace with matching earrings and a giftcard to Target, HayLee presented me with the cutest purse, and Tyler & Cheryl bestowed upon Austin and me a gift card to CPK (California Pizza Kitchen for the unfamiliar). (I also earlier received birthday cards and gifts from Austin’s parents and grandparents and my mom’s parents.) Thank you everyone! Thank you all for your thoughts, birthday wishes, cards, and gifts. I think this birthday was a mighty success. And it’s not over yet! Tee-hee! Tonight Austin is taking me on a date and tomorrow night I’m having a party with a few of my friends. I’ll let you know all that all goes at a later date to be determined. Until then I will while away my last few hours of work and prepare to catch up on some much needed sleep.
